One big change that has been spotted in the leaked 7048 build of Windows 7 is the ability to actually remove Internet Explorer 8. Completely. Or re-add it later if you'd like.

I happen to like IE8, and will have it installed always along-side Firefox, Opera, and Chrome.![]()

I don't like IE. Good thing we can get rid of it now
-
Only IE8 ;-)
IE7 is still an integrated part of Windows. Now, this would be nice if the option of uninstalling IE is being integrated.
cheers ... -
Removing/Uninstalling IE8 in build 7048 only deletes the IE .exe file.
It doesn't uninstall the browser completely as desribed in the article I posted on earlier.
Cheers. -

On the flip siide:
Being able to download and install IE7 would be an interesting option for IE users. -
I hope they adhere to some of the W3C this time around. Would be nice if we could have a UNIVERSAL standard that is UTILIZED. Sorry to rant
I wonder if they are offering such an option to at least make it go away, in part, to satisfy EU req's so they don't have to rebuild a specific version for em.

From post 750ff, if interested. -
Thank you, I shall look it up...this would be something that I am very interested in finding more.

^^
It's very brief, tho, but hey, feel free to open up a new thread if you'd like, and see if there's any takers! -
It's good that it is an option to remove it, though some websites and services (3rd party .net projects, etc) support only IE, so I'll keep it in the corner.

If Windows 7 is anything like Windows XP then it can not be removed because the Windows Update page can only be loaded in Internet Explorer. However, it can also be done automatically without use of a browser, but I don't trust Windows that much.
The European Commission should remove this silly requirement, which is undoubtedly calculated to maintain market share for Internet Explorer. -
The windows (and microsoft) update feature loads in its own explorer page (much like the control panel, etc) so IE shouldn't be needed to run windows update.
