I just transferred my Videos across my network from my old laptop to my new one. Once i got all my videos on my new laptop, the AVI files dont show up as the icons of the first scene of the video like they did in the old laptop. Anyone know how i can fix that?

Go to 'Folder and search options' from the "Organize" pull down menu > View > Uncheck "Always show icons, never thumbnails".
If you want every folder to do this, you might have to 'apply these settings for all folders of this type' or something like that at the top of the "view" panel.
Hope this helps. Cheers. -
try:
tools
folder option
view tab
1rst one: always show icons, never....
uncheck it
OMG fondue pwned me ^^ -
Hmm. I found where you are talking about, but it was already unchecked. So i checked it, pressed apply, then unchecked it and pressed apply. Still the same thing =[
-
Well, you might have to close the folder and open again after unchecking. Some times just clicking apply doesnt work I think. Or probably you could try to 'refresh'... Let us know
-
does this happens with pics too?
-
and try increasing the size of the thumbnails by one notch up....
-
Just tried closing the folder. Then restarting the folder. Still nothing =/
Pictures are fine.
Just tried to enlarge icons, still the same problem. -
I mean in "Views" from the main menu bar, next to Organize, try chosing medium or large icons...
-
hmmm... did increasing the icon size work??
-
Nope, just went through all the icon sizes. None of them worked.
-
Hmm ok... strange
-
Yeah.
Thanks for trying though.
-
ok if u havnt played any avi file yet.. try doing it... mb thw wmplayer isnt set up yet and thats why?
btw where do u upload pics? -
Do you have the AVI Codec installed?
-
What player are you using? Try playing the file and see if you have AVI codec installed in your computer. Let us know then.
-
Just watched some of the office =D
Still icons not showing up though =[ -
I can go try and find the AVI codex. Maybe thats it.
-
How did you watch? Did you try with VLC player? and then setting like 'open all avi files with vlc' and then see if u could see the icons?
-
I dont have VLC. I guess i could get it though. I just installed a wmplayer codec pack
http://www.soft32.com/download_2592.html -
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=173941 >> apparently a one codec pack for all!!! I haven't tried this though.
-
Trying it now =]
-
I cant see anything that that program did =[
-
http://www.free-codecs.com/K_Lite_Codec_Pack_download.htm Have you installed the codec? I learn from the web that this issue is mainly codec related and this is another suggestion for a codec pack.
-
well... thats how far i can go.. dunno what else to suggest ^^ good luck
-
Im download that codec now. Thanks for your help guys =]
-
Just downloaded that codec pack. Still doesnt work. I'll try to restart and see if it works

From another forum, see if this helps....

Found something odd, it seems that if i open any sort of media player, (wmp, mpc, vlc) and browse a folder with it (looking to open a video, etc) all the .avis' in that folder will get thumbnails. Very strange. I take it nobody has any idea what's going on though. Still looking for a proper solution. :/
Huh, wmp just popped up with this window when browsing a folder, selected use always, and, everything works........... O_O
