    Ok so dumb question time.

This has been bugging me for, like, forever...

Whenever I update nVidia video drivers on any laptop I have, the icons on my desktop always get shifted up to the left corner of the screen.

Is there anyway I can prevent this from happening or is it just one of those annoyances that can't be fixed?

Thanks in advance for any advice on this. :)

This is probably equally as dumb, :D but have you made sure that your icon display options are set properly? Right click on the Desktop and select View. Then make sure that both Auto Arrange and Align to Grid are unchecked. Then go to Sort By, and make sure that none of the options are selected. Then, rearrange your icons on the Desktop as you want them, and they should stay there after restarts and downloads.

Yes I have made sure of those options being set correctly. It's not after every restart or download just when I update my video drivers and during the process the screen goes black (as it's supposed to) and then all my icons have been shifted when I'm able to look at my desktop again.

Happens everytime, no matter what laptop I'm using (both acer and asus).

Handy, only for Vista though I take it, as the article is for Vista.

Doesn't seem to happen with Dox optimised driver packages though, only stock nVidia ones, I'm assuming it happens because of a resolution change?
