I have recently purchased word 2010 and just a few hours ago it had the word logo on the icon.... now if you look at the image attached that logo is completely gone.... is there a way to fix this?

I have NOT tried this. You can get there several ways, here is one:

Go to microsoft office-- microsoft office tools-- microsoft office picture manager-- help-- detect and repair-- check restore my shortcuts while repairing.

This happened to me, still a bit of a mystery. But I was able to get the shortcut from start menu -> all programs -> microsoft office, and copy it. A bit micky-mouse but it worked for me.

I think its because office 2010 does something non-standard with their shortcut since they all appear to point to the same image and not some .exe file under "c\Program Files". Then again, I guess if Microsoft is doing it, then it can't be non-standard... must be the "new standard"...
