    Hi!

Yesterday, I removed this MS Works crap from my HDD. Today I noticed, that my file association for .ppt-files was missing. No big deal to restore it for Windows, but now, my IE7 doesn't open Powerpoint files anymore
Does anyone know where I can find the setting to make my browser open .ppt again?

    Greets

Can you please change your thread title? "IE7" isn't very helpful, try something like, "IE7 won't open PPT files". You'll get more help with a good thread title.

    Do you have Powerpoint installed?

Cause then from there it should be able to open it in IE7. However, shouldn't it be easier to just have the files open separately in Powerpoint (or a similar ppt file editor)?

    Yes, Powerpoint is installed.
When I click on a link to a .ppt-file, IE 7 just says it's an "unknown file" and I can only save it to hdd. The 2nd option is searching for a program via internet, but that doesn't lead to a solution.

MY COMPUTER > TOOLS > FOLDER OPTIONS > FILE TYPES tab
    scroll to PPT
There are probably a half dozen files with the PPT---- extensions, I am not sure which one you want

One at a time, select one
    choose ADVANCED button
check the BROWSE IN SAME WINDOW box.

Now test your file on the web...if opens the way you want, good, you're done.

If not, go back, uncheck the BROWSE IN SAME WINDOW box and try the next in line

    Hi gerryf19,

thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, I can't even click "browse in same window" for the ppt-files...

Might reinstalling IE7 solve the problem? Onthe other hand, this is not so very important for me. I just thought there might be a very simple way to fix it.
