I'm looking for some free or open source scanning software to use with my HP C3180 All-in-One as opposed to HP's bloated Photosmart Suite. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

May I ask why? You do not have to keep the HP bloatware running all the time you know. You can set it to activate only when the printer is scanning.

I understand this, but if there is a less obtrusive alternative then it'd be great to switch. :)

I haven't found any free or open source scanning software. If you want to buy something better, then you might want to look at VueScan or OmniPage Pro.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I've found a better solution (at least for me)! I hope this helps some others out there too...

Anyways, you can use Paint.NET to scan images by going to "File>Acquire>From Scanner or Camera ..." Just need the driver! ;)
