I want to be able to import my photos/videos on an sd card into a specific folder of my choosing. How can I do this?

Right now, my Win 8.1 asus ux31a touch laptop automatically opens up the photos app. This photos app seems to crash every time I select "all" photos for importing. Also, even when I just select a few photos/videos to import, it automatically puts them in a subfolder (named with today's date) in my "pictures" folder - I don't want that, I want to be able to manually assign the name of my subfolder and also be able to set the default folder to put that subfolder in myself.

    Thanks.

Did you check if the SD card shows as a drive in My Computer? If so, then you could just access that drive and copy the photo/videos manually. That's what I do personally and I never cared about any automation in importing my files...

I suggest you take a look at this link as well in case you prefer to use the import function:

Thanks. Decided to install Picasa 3. It'll automatically pop up every time you stick in an sd card with photos/videos for importing after the first time you select the program for use. Only disappointment is that program is not compatible with avchd files. It'll still import your avchd files but you won't be able to see them in your picasa library for editing (only visible through some other program or windows explorer).
