i just got my tz191. and i was wondering what software i need to improve performance? and what software to uninstall? i only have 10gb left of space after deleting the hibernation files. and whenever i go to "uninstall programs" there is roxio media creator listed and i already erased it. it says that it cant find the certificate file and is still listed there takinglike 80 mb of space.

10 GB of space? You mean you have 10 gigs of space left or you're using 10 gigs of space.

this sony is very poor in hard disk space. it could be true that calot only has about 10gigo left

i recommend acronis the system to a larger hard drive

Oh you got the 30 gig Flash drive huh? I'd say...just get a portable external. You're probably not going to get much more out of that.

Turn off system restore, and delete restore points.
Windows has a built-in Disk Cleanup, that doesn't do that much, but it might help.

Easycleaner can find/remove registry errors, duplicate files, programs, backup files, and other temporary files.

It can also do a comprehensive scan of your drive usage.

to make your computer faster...theres an option(i forgot how to get there), but you can index only the start menu and nothing else. Also use msconfig to uncheck any unwanted/uneeded startup items.

This is an excerpt of one of my posts in a different thread:

    - Turn off search indexing, UAC, system restore, hibernation
    - Turn on write caching. Go to Device Manager, Disk Drives. Right-click on your SATA hard drive and click Properties. Click the Policies tab, and click Enable Advanced Performance.
    - In control panel, Programs and Features, Turn Windows Features on or off, uncheck:
    Indexing Service
    Remote Differential Compression
    Tablet PC Optional Components
    Windows DFS Replication Service
Windows Fax & Scan (unless you use a modem for faxing
Windows Meeting Space (unless you use the Live Meeting Service)
    - In Control Panel, Administrative Tools, System Configuration, Services Tab, uncheck:
Offline Files (unless you’re using Offline File Sync)
Tablet PC Input Service (unless you have a tablet PC)
    Terminal Services
Windows Search (If you have already disabled indexing)
Fax (unless you’re using a fax modem)
    - Clean up startup programs. Type msconfig, look in the Startup tab.
    - I had a 4 gig flash drive handy so I used readyboost. With just 1GB, of memory, readyboost will also help.
    - Use Vista Basic instead of Aero

I have the 32gb SSD drive. I dont need readyboost, and I dont need more than 10gb space, I already installed everything I need(office, itunes, messenger, etc) What i really want is t make it faster, by deleting everything I can, ive been trying to make a recovery dvd but no success, after 30 minutes into the proces it tells me that there is something wrong with the disk, that may be scratched or that its too small, before doing the recovery it told me that i would need like 3-4 dvds for the recovery so i was kinda waiting for the prompt to insert the second disk but never happened... :( im confused

use Ausulogic Disk defrag to defrag your computer and then run the disk defrag that windows vista has built in and it adjust itself and your boot up times will be faster

also do a regedit change to drop your shutdown timer from 2000 *2 seconds its in miliseconds* to 1000 or 500 =)

Auslogic defrag utlity defrags the hard drive quickly and effectivly and the built in defrag in vista makes changes in itself to streamline itself by effectivly making use of its memory to suit your needs by learning from you.

Easycleaner is an excellent product. I use both that and Crap Cleaner. ;)
