I recently bought an acer aspire 6935 notebook.

    Its components are the ff:
    2.4 centrino 2
    2 Gb RAM DDR3
    320 Gb HDD
    Geforce 9600 GT 512 Mb
    Windows Vista Premium

I only have a very simple question: I would like to know if it's safe for me to change the OS to XP from Vista. Given the specs, the notebook is already very decent in performance but I have a very strong feeling that it will perform a whole lot better if I run it on XP.

I also checked in acer driver support, they don't have XP drivers for my model. If anyone (knowledgeable) can help me in any way, I would appreciate it very much.

    Thanks for reading.

Are you having difficulty with Vista on the laptop? If it's running a bit sluggish, the first thing that comes to mind is to update the amount of RAM to 4 GB. It's relatively cheap these days to get memory anyway. You might be able to get a pair of 2 GB DDR3 sticks for under 75$ (USD) if you hunt around the web.

If you still choose to go back to XP, you can get drivers from Windows Update, and the graphics drivers from NVidia's website.

Edit: I'd say though to stick to Vista, and check that you have Service Pack 1 installed on it.

Make sure you have SP1 and that's all you need. A seven year old OS doesn't need to be on brand new hardware.

Actually you can find 4gb's of RAM for under $40 now.

And have you followed the Vista tweaks guide?

Stick with Vista. If you can update the memory that would be helpful, but otherwise I don't see a reason to backwards.

My expert opinion is that you need to write better thread titles.
