    I was looking at the cd's included with my new e1505 and i noticed 2 dvd programs. Is one of them by any chance a ripping program?

    sonic is the burner software and powerdvd should be your dvd player. a good ripping program for backing up is either dvd decrypter or dvdshrink. dvdshrink is good for compressing the standard dual layer disc down to 1 layer. both are free. if you don't want to compress and have plenty of file space, then go for an .iso image of the dvd and play it with daemon tools.
