After updating the BIOS from A01 to A06 like the dell tech rep told me to when I had my battery replaced, the system now hangs on a regular basis. At best it runs smoothly for 20 minutes or so, then hangs, and at worst I can't even log on. I've checked for heat issues, I've tried going back down to older BIOS versions, and I've tried using different driver versions all to no avail. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, Brendon S. Allan

    Specifications are ..
    Core Duo T2400
    1GB 533Mhz DDR2 Ram
    nVidia Go 7800
    100GB 5400RPM

hang=no movement in mouse pointer? no kboard access? can u bring up ctrl-alt-del task manager?
    ur running processes?
    ur start.up processes?
    scan ur drive for malware?
u could not log on at certain time, was windows screen up then? where did it hang before log.on?

    cheers ...

The mouse cursor can move but beyond that the system is almost completely non-responsive.

Ctrl+Alt+Delete works, but starting the Task Manager is very slow.

This should be asked in the Dell board. However, you should probably reinstall Windows. Read SouthernGirl's guide, which is in the Dell board.

Sounds to me like your proc is going up to 100% usage for some reason... I really hate to recommend a reformat. I'd try updating your Dell drivers just to make sure they're all compatible with the newest BIOS to start with.

Has anyone else done the A06 bios update on an E1705 and if so has it caused any problems?

I installed the update the day it came out, and I've been running without any problems.

I've also installed the new bios update with no problems, with that I did download the latest versions of drivers from dell, all that I could find anyway.
