My laptop os is Windows XP Media Center Version 2005. I did a clean install for the first time. When I attempted to run the second disk (Reinstallation DVD) it wouldn't load. I took it out of the sealed package so it evidently
was faulty when I bought the laptop.
I emailed Dell and they gave me a number to call to request replacement disks "at a nominal fee". My warranty expired 11/08.
Does anyone know what "nominal" means to Dell? Is there another way to get the disk I need?
We have had two car wrecks within a week's time. Our daughter got her license and seven days later totalled the car my husband drives to work.
Two days ago, a deer hit the front side of our two year old car and it is in the shop now. Thankfully, neither driver was injured. Of course, this will
greatly affect our insurance and we will, again, have two car payments.
(Sorry, just housebound and having a pity party.)
I really need my laptop to be running. The very old Acer I am using now
won't do the work I need it to do.
Any advice would be much appreciated!

Call Dell and ask how much it will cost.
What error messages did you receive during installation?
