Is it possible to install a 32-Bit Vista upgrade over a 64-Bit XP Pro?
-
You did say the word upgrade, therefore I am taking that to mean you have windows XP 64 and want to upgrade to some 32bit version of vista is this correct?
As far as I know it is not possible to upgrade from a 64bit OS to a 32bit OS as they address memory in a completely different manner. Now if you want you can install vista from a clean install but if you do this will be removing XP 64 and not upgrading it. -
As Evolution said, it's possible to do a clean install, either wiping your XP x64 install, or setting up Vista on a separate partition to dual boot -- but you cannot do a simple "upgrade" from a 64-bit OS to a 32-bit one -- or the other way around -- or even 64-bit to 64-bit. The only way to do a simple "upgrade" is from 32-bit to 32-bit.
But you can do a "clean install" even with the retail "upgrade" version of Vista... if that's what you purchased. Post again if you need more help. -
