I have a new full version of Vista ultimate that my cousin gave me for my BD and I never used it. Should I use it over the factory Vista premium or not? What would be the pros and cons? I have an HP 6326.

For now I just use this notebook to surf, itunes, movies, and frontpage. No gaming.

Since the OS is a "Microsoft Company store purchase" I can't sell it.

My advise is a clean install. It will get rid of any bloatware or HP dedicated registry entries that you really don't want. Since you have ultimate, you can build your system a bit at a time, all the while making complete PCbackups when you are happy at each point.

When you have completed your installations, add ons, tweaking and so on, you will find you have an absolutely beautiful system with a backup just in case, a system that will be much quicker and much more stable than the HP built system. And it will be yours.

Ultimate Complete Pc backup is quick, easy and it saves your entire disk, not just the drive. It is a complete computer recovery tool.

yes, if you screw up with ultimate, then you can use your sony vaio recovery disks to re-install sony's bloatware full vista. But i'm not sure if your warranty will be affected by reformatting to a different version of vista or not.

Yes it does but the lucky guy got it for $45 through the microsoft Company store. That's the perks for working for old Bill.

Before I installed Ultimate it took at least two minutes to start my notebook with Vista premium and the bloat. After a clean install it now starts in forty-one seconds.
