My new computer hard drive is faulty. I am returning the machine.

I previously installed Office Professional 2007 (academic version), which I understand to have very limited licensure.

How preserve my license so that I can re-register Office 2007 on a new, replacement computer without losing the ability to register additional machines?

Just uninstall Office from that machine (if you can). If you can't, don't worry about it. System crashes happen every now and then, and require a reformat.

Install it on your new machine. If it gives you guff during registration, call MS. Typically phone registration doesn't take too long.

If you get into phone activation (and you probably will not) they'll be very understanding...just tell them your old PC died (true) and you have a new one (true).

Thanks. I'll save the paper work regarding the return just to be safe.
