Ok after seeing that someone saw SP3 in windows update I decided to take a look. There it was, so I DLed and installed it. After installing it needed to reboot so I let it, but when it gets to the loading(Windows XP Screen with the bars passing) it briefly shows a BSOD and reboots itself. It continues that process until I physically hold the power button and shut it off. I booted into safe mode, and that works...I even did a system restore from there, but when it rebooted the same problem occured. I really don't know what to do anymore. Help!

can you briefly describe what the bsod tells you? sp3 probably changed some boot files. (It might conflict with some of your programs if you changed the way xp boots up, such as using some sort of transformation pack that edits some of your boot files) Happened to me when i did that...(back when it was sp2 tho) so i had to reinstall the whole friggin thing...

The BSOD shows for like a split second and reboots. Can't see what it says. T_T

Have you disabled automatic restart upon error?

Go into your system properties > advanced tab > startup and recovery settings and disable automatically restart.

See if that makes the BSOD stay.

For some odd reason, I rebooted it again in desperation, and it worked...it's currently at my desktop but I'm afraid to reboot or turn it off, lol. I'm currently not home right now, so hopefully when I get back home, it's not frozen or something. ;o

you might create a restore point now while it's up and running just incase you need it....

and as far as rebooting,, if you have a problem rebooting,,,, you should be able to hit F5 then choose "last known good configuration"
