    New acer 6935g, already had 2 partitions on it at about 140gb each. Vista preinstalled on (C), decided to installed XP on (D).

    Now whenever I boot up it loads XP. With my old laptop It would let me choose at the start which to load up. Can't figure out how to pick which one i want to boot, looked in the setup but can't find anything thats helping. Trying google atm :confused:

    EDIT - found the system startup option in XP but under default operating systems it only lists XP pro

    Go to Start>Run, type msconfig and hit enter. In the window that comes up, navigate to the BOOT.INI tab and click Check All Boot Paths. You might also want to set a timeout of a few seconds, to give yourself time to choose which OS to load.

    Im at the boot.ini but it only has XP listed.

    [boot loader]
    timeout=30
    default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)WINDOWS
    [operating systems]
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows Xp Professional" /noexecute=optin /fastdetect /noexecute=alwaysoff

    After clicking check all boot paths It says that all lines for the boot.ini OS are ok.

    I cant do that since vista was preloaded with no discs. Only can restore everything using the hidden partition. Raawwwrr.

    Thanks though!

    Although i do have a vista dvd from old laptop, not sure if it will work since it was only meant for that laptop.

    EDIT - fixed using uhh can't remember now, a couple of programs that didnt need the vista disk. I like vista better than XP now though so didnt really need to install ¬___¬
