I would like to have Vista and XP installed in the same computer. Each one in its own partition. To avoid possibility of one OS intervening with the other, I would like to hide Vista partition while XP is running and vice versa. How do I do that given the fact that both partitions will be NTFS? I have Partition Magic 7 but the option to hide NTFS partition is not available and I am not sure if this old software will work for resizing 160 GB partition.
Anybody knows about 3rd party partitioning software that will work for hiding and resizing 160 GB NTFS partition?

Does Vista automatically make a new partition for XP or do you need to use different tools to do that?

You need to create partitions upfront before installing Vista.
You can use Partition Magic 8.05 (old outdated)
You can use Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 (D King, highly recommended)

How much of a partition should I give Vista? Right now, all I have is like 20 GB free. Is that enough to install vista and check it out?

    i believe 20gb shud do.
u shud probably make it about 25gb.
u will have to sacrifice some of the programs or data on xp

If you purchased a PC in the last two years, chances are good that you can run Windows Vista. To install and run the core functionality of Windows Vista, you need:

    An 800 MHz processor

    512 MB of RAM

A 20 GB hard drive with 15 GB of free space
