I recently upgraded the HDD in my Dell Inspiron 1720. I went from an 80gb HDD to a WD 320gb HDD. I installed it and everything seems to be going well. When I install the OS it runs through the first 4 sections fine, but in the last section titled "Completing Installation" it stays on this screen for quite a while and then randomly turns black. I've let it sit on the black screen for a couple hours and it still does nothing. I'm in the middle of my 3rd attempt right now.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Try going into your computer's BIOS setup and change/toggle the HDD settings.

I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. I ended up cloning my old HDD onto my new one. Much easier and less stress.
