    Installing W7 from an Ipod/ External HDD?

    Is it okay to do this? I left my copy of windows 7 in my house and i'm doing a clean install on a laptop when i remembered. lol

    And is it also possible that the windows 7 installer will work on a disk partition?

    The device needs to be bootable and you cant just have a .iso file on the disk, you need to do some preaparation with the installation files othewise it won't work.

    There are a lot of possibilities to do this, Microsoft has even made a tool to prepare an USB device for installing Windows 7. See here.

    yeah i checked it out. but i was wondering if it is okay to put the installer with other files? like installer files on the root, then make a folder for other files? :)

    You can just drag and drop the files... that's why I gave you the linke. You need the boot sector of the Win7 DVD/ .iso as well.

    And you need to format your storage device, the tool I mentioned will do this too afaik. I'm not sure whether it works on a partition but you can give it a try. Make sure to backup the other files on your storage device before using the tool.

    And make sure your device is bootable.
