    Installing WIndows SP2

    I just bought the following netbook:

    Acer / Aspire One AO751H
    Ram 2GB
    HDD 250GB
    Windows Vista Home Basic 32-Bit SP1

    I did all the Windows updates and the last one SP2 is not getting installed
    I got it downloaded but as I said it is not getting installed.Already tried 2x.

    Any sugestions ??

    Netbook running Vista... OK....

    It may be "locked" by the manufacturer - there was a way...
    (But then it shouldn't sho wup...)

    Did you try to manually download SP2 from Microsoft?

    What's the error message, it may (and should) help.

    I am using windows update to get SP2.It downloaded but didn't install.
    The instalation process doesn't happen at all > progess bar doesn't progress at all.

    No error messages ??

    Any HDD activity?

    How long did you wait?

    I was going to bed last night when the installation process begun . it was 23:30.
    This morning 8:00 nothing.Yes the HDD was active

    If the HDD was active it was obviously doing something - it does soundlike an awful long time though...

    I am downloading it from MICROSOFT SITE and I am getting some progress..
    Half way so far ...

    Believe it or not but I got SP2 installed.(Via MICROSOFT SITE) :D

    * On my other machines I downloaded and installed it from Windows Update

    Go figure :eek:

    Just always put your Microsoft and Windows update on an automatic daily basis on fixed on highly-recommended updates. If you're not having the updates automatically, you can always opt to do it manually. Right now, there is the Windows SP3 and MS Office SP2, try downloading them already to make your notebook's OS fully updated with all the bug-fixing add-ons and enhanced office performance that you obtain from the updates.

    seen this behaviour on some machines (but not much). actually, they where xp machines :) but yeah, if an update doesn't work, downloading it manually will a) fix that, or b) show up a more detailed error that helps to find out why it doesn't install.
