Hi guys, I recently purchased a digital download of win7, chose the upgrade option and after the initial install it reloads and shows the win7 boot up screen it then gives a stop error message 0x0000007b (0x80786b58 0x00000034 0x00000000 0x00000000).
I think the second error is 34 since i have restored previous hdd image using rollback rx.
Anyway, why is this happening? There is little help on line about this message, how do I fix this and successfully install Windows 7?
I am installing it on an Acer 5735z laptop from windows vista home basic.

don't suppose you could try a clean install?

eek trying to put this off as a last resort you understand. I've backed everything up, it's just if I do this, I'll also lose rollback rx and if it messes up, I can't reload an image of the hard drive from before the install

Driver issue,..... I can confirm the 5735Z works extremely well on all releases of windows 7 since 7000 ... release is 7600
My wife has one for backup for showing clients Kitchen designs and a little autocad never never had a moments trouble with it ... but I did clean load it every time it got updated -
So how did you get it to install?

Usually, I have issues installing upgrades when I have corrupt files on the drive. A lot of times, we don't even know we have them because things seem to run fine. Since I have been checking and correcting errors before upgrades, they seem to install without a hitch. Not sure if this is the circumstance for you but it can't hurt before you go the clean install route.

BTW, it can be a long process depending on your drive size. -
It seems I didn't check the disk for bad sectors (just ran chkdisk c: with no parameters), going to do this properly now by scheduling it at next reboot -
doesnt appear to have any errors, going to have to bite the bullet...

yep, but hey a clean load is best anyways
