Hi I want to upgrade to Windows 7 64 bit once it is released but am a little hesitant as the drivers for the laptop are designed for vista and xp. I would assume the same drivers would install fine and work fine on windows 7 64 bit but want to make sure. Would I have to find the 64 bit drivers for vista and use those on a windows 7 64 bit installation?

Only 64 bit drivers will work on a 64 bit OS. Vista drivers will work absolutely fine, well they should anyway. Asus should have Windows 7 drivers on the release anyway.

Thanks for your response. I don't intend to rush into it but it is nice to check up on these things before doing them.

    Well...

I think you can modify some 32Bit drivers to work under 64Bit as it isn't true 64Bit yet - its a bit of both, at least for Vista.

Now some Vista divers won't work - others will work perfectly.

    But basically:
If you have a new computer getting 64Bit Win 7 support shouldn't be a problem :)

For many people running Windows 7 already, drivers issues have been few and far between. Most drivers are already included in Windows.

The ones that seem to be missing the most (that I've seen) are webcam and smartcard reader drivers
