Hi, I recently installed an mSSD into my HP dv6t-7000 and I am wondering how I can install a fresh copy of Windows 7 64 bit on the mSSD as a C drive while keeping my previous installation on the HDD (the current C drive) so I can still access files I need before wiping it out and using it for storage. I tried disconnecting the HDD then installing Windows 7 on the SSD, but when I try to reconnect the HDD, it won't boot (presumably because there is a conflict with 2 C drives). How can I seamlessly achieve this? Perhaps there is a way I can change the HDD C drive to D since I won't be using the OS anymore, but I don't know how (since you can't change the boot drive within the OS). Thanks.

If I am understanding correctly, what you need to do is change the boot order on startup. The computer should boot from whichever drive it finds with Windows on it first. So when you turn on the computer, press F2 or whichever function key brings up your bios settings. Change the boot order so the hard drive you want to use is first. This way you should be able to easily switch between the two drives. Which drive is labeled C or D doesn't really matter.
Installing Windows 7 on SSD as Local Disk C (not D!)
