Hey guys, I recently just got a G75VW, I do not want to keep the OS on the HDD, it is too slow. It came with Windows 8,and I am not very fond of it not sure if I should stick with it or not, or revert back to Win7 with the product key from my G73, and put Win8 on the G73JH. Any suggestions?

Also if I do put my OS on the new SSD for the G75VW, how would I go about doing it? I heard so many things online you can only do it if you buy another copy of Win8 or so? I got the Win8 product key, but I need to make a bootable flash drive to do it, but I cannot find it currently anywhere, only preview ones. Not sure what to do, but if I do stick with Win8 on my computer, where do I go to get the ISO to put it on my new SSD. Any help would be nice, I looked around.

I heard about cloning, but a clean reinstall sounds better to me. If anyone knows please let me know. Not sure what to do in this current situation.

I have also seen that the Win8 is encrypted to the UEFI, and BIOS, so is it even possible to get the Win8 to the new SSD? I do have the product key for Win8.

It's illegal for you to do that Windows 7-Windows 8 swap between the G73 and G75 since both are OEM licenses which don't have transfer rights. In the case of Windows 8 on the G75 it's impossible due to the key being encrypted and stored in the BIOS of that machine. The key you're referring to, which I assumed you pulled from the Windows Registry using Magical Jelly Bean or Belarc Advisor, doesn't match the BIOS one and is just a key used by OEM's to mass install Windows on thousands of machines at the factory.

So if I cannot do that, how do I reinstall Win8 on a brand new SSD I want to transfer to my G75VW? How do I go about doing that without buying any new software? Is it possible to do the bootable drive to install Win8?

Did you receive an reinstallation/restore media with your laptop, or know if there's a hidden partition on the original drive?
