i'm planning to buy either an Asus Eee PC or an Acer Aspire One which both has Linux in them.

    1. would you advice installing Vista over the Linux OS?

    2. is it advisable to install Vista over Linux?

    3. any reported or heard of any "issues" when Vista was installed over Linux?

Over? You mean instead of? Either way it's a no, since Vista will most likely slow the subnotebook down to unbearable speeds.
You will not be able to install Vista 'over' Linux anyway, since Vista will request you to format the Linux partition as Linux uses a file system that is incompatible with any version of Windows (same is true vice versa).

it will work, but make sure you get a machine with an 80GB hard drive or bigger. Vista takes a fair bit of room.

Linux might be better as it takes less resources, but nothing runs on it... and personally I have stability issues with it on all my machines.

1)i wouldnt install vista on a netbook.... simple as that! they may be able to run vista, but they certainly wont run it well enough for you to be comfortable using it. If you do follow through this route make sure you upgrade the ram to at least 2gb.... also do not get the lower capacity aspire ones... their ssd bandwidth are dreadfully slow meaning vista is a definate no go!

    2)see above

3)you are hardly likely to counter driver issues, due to the fact that those 2 ranges of netbooks can be bought with xp/linux pre-installed. but yeh performance issues must be expected.

    hope this helps!

it is possible to install vista on lower capacity drives, but if you are considering this it is very advisable to follow the vlite guide in my sig.
