    Hello,
I bought an ASUS x73SV today with no OS:

    ASUS
    Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM Processor (6M Cache, 2.20 GHz), Sandy Bridge
    8GB DDR3 RAM (1066 MHz)
    640GB, S-ATA 5400 rpm
    17.3" HD [LED] blizgus (1600 x 900) 16:9
    6 celių Li-lon 5200mAh
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M 1GB

And I have problem installing OS on it.. I have tried booting win7, win xp, win 98 from cd/dvd and nothing worked. I get error message "Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key". I set 1st bootable device CD-ROM, 2nd Hard Drive in BIOS and I don't know where the problem is.. I found Lindows CD and tried to boot OS from it and suddenly it worked but obviously I don't want Lindows OS on my laptop.

Lukas, try inserting the windows 7 DVD, then power on and press ESC key a few times till a menu comes up where you can select the optical drive. Also try the 7 DVD in another computer just to insure it is bootable if the ESC key work around fails.

I guess CDs are not bootable then because the same happens on other 2 PC/laptop. I have no idea how to make it bootable.
