Well I wanted to install the firmware so I can set up a secured network simply and I can't find my linksys cd. I went to the site and downloaded the firmware witch was a .bin file. I tried running it, burning it with power ISO, nothing happened. I burned it to a cd with with the standard windows burner and put the cd in and nothing happened. Its really frustrating I can't do anything with the file. Ive also tried tomato and have the same issues. Can anyone help?

Don't double click it. Follow the instructions in the link ttupa provided. You have to upload the file directly to the router.

You don't have to open the file. You simply need to upload it to the router.

Ok I put my ip into the address bar, I got it off whatismyip.com or whatever and I get the page cannot be displayed.
I copy and pasted the default ip I guess you can say(the one in the instructions), into the box and i get an "authorization required box" with space for a user name and password

Yes, you will need a user name and password to log onto your router. If you haven't changed the password, I think Linksys uses "admin" as the default.

Hmm... That means you've changed the username and password from the default settings. If you can't remember them, you're going to have to reset the router.

EDIT: which model do you have?
