Hello,
I have an old laptop with windows7 installed, asus k53sc-sx441v, and everytime I try to install w10 it gets stuck on windows logo, right after the boot. I tried 2 different pen drive and re-installed MediaCreationTool multiple times. Coudnl't find anything on google aswell.
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks

Try older W10 builds such as v1809. The latest W10 may have some upgrade blocks on nvidia optimus laptops. Most v1903 features such as Game bar, Retpoline are backported to older LTSC version 1809 aka 17763.1.

That would be my suggestion as well. I remember on certain older laptops that I had, Build 1703 would hang after the final reboot. I used an older copy of W10 at the time and it installed and I was able to later upgrade it to the current build at that time.

I have tried v1903 by clean installing 7 times a month and finally I lost it and installed v1809 with all latest updates integrated. It worked like a charm!opayaa likes this.

Unfortunately it still gets stuck at windows logo, I tried 1809, 1803, 1709 and 1703. Windows 7 is not available for download on this website, can you link me another one for w7 home sp1 pls? Sorry but I can't download it from Microsoft and all I can find are shady websites. Also if you have another suggestions..

Are you installing from a USB Flash drive or a DVD? If a DVD you could try it from a USB Flash Drive or vice versa. How about posting the specs of your laptop i.e. CPU, amount of memory, video card, disk drive? If you don't know, you can use CPUz once you boot into Windows 7 https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

I posted latptop model and also said I tried 2 different pen drives, I didn't tried DVD, don't have any atm.
Here are the specs
i5-2430M Dual Core
GeForce GT 520MX / Intel HD Graphics 3000
1x 4GB 1333 MHz
HDD 500gb 5400 rpm
I downloaded w7, will try to install later. -
OK, I think I may have found the problem. You need to go into the BIOS and turn off the discreet GPU i.e. Nvidia. Let Windows 10 install off the integrated graphics i.e. Intel HD. I think what's happening is Windows 10 is hanging because it doesn't know which GPU to load with.
Try disabling one or the other GPU in your BIOS settings and try the install again ! -
I can't find any option to disable gpu in BIOS. I watch some videos and tutorials from similar laptops (can't find one with my exact model) and my BIOS doesn't have some options. Can I do it via device manager?
Also, BIOS was never updated since I have the laptop, could a update resolve the problem? -
Limiting GPU certainly seems reasonable. Also, go through Device Manager and check driver versions. Make sure you have reasonable drivers for all connected devices - and disconnect any you do not need for the installation. USB devices can be a particular issue. Because they often have SD card slots, Windows tends to regard them as storage devices. I had one version that would not boot and complete install because my printer was connected - as soon as I tried it without the printer, the install went through. For the 1903 version, I could not get the upgrade to work unless I disabled secure boot in the bios.
You may want to download a copy of the ISO and run it from your hard disk. Keep us informed - we know what a pain this can be.

If as you say Windows 10 is hanging during the installation then getting to Device Manager is only going to be available once you successfully install Windows 10. On most computers it's either the F2 or DEL key. Turn the computer off and power it back on, then press F2 or DEL key. That should take you into the BIOS.
It could but updating the BIOS is always risky. Things can go from bad to worse if something gets buggered along the way. I would first try going into the BIOS settings and look for the Graphics Settings. There is where you should find the setting to turn off the Nvidia GPU (Discreet Graphics) or Intel GPU (Integrated Graphics). Try turning off the Nvidia graphics first and retry the installation. If it hangs with only the Intel GPU, then go back into the BIOS and turn off the Intel GPU and turn on the Nvidia GPU.Last edited: Jul 23, 2019 -
Updating Bios is not always risky, but it shouldn't be done without a reason. Check your bios version, and check notebook manufacturer's site to see what updates there have been. With each one, there is likely to be some text indicating the reason for the update, i.e., specifying what problem the update was supposed to fix, and whether it is ok to skip versions (flash from version 3 to version 6, for example). There may also be information on the relevant manufacturer's forum here, including information concerning any bios versions that did not work. It may turn out that a more recent bios is required for Win 10, for example.

Thank you guys but I can't make it happen, no matter what. I looked every single option on BIOS and don't have any to disable gpu, I disabled Nvidia gpu via device manager and still didn't work.
I said before I have windows 7 installed, the laptop is fine I just want to format.
I'll keep searching for a solution, meanwhile I might buy a 128gb SSD and try to install on it.
I will update here if I find any solution.
