I just recently ordered a laptop without an OS. This might be a newbie question but... Will I be able to install my windows 7 ultimate student license on it? I figured out that it is an upgraded version (because it said pre-existing os upgrade or something). So should I return it and get a full version of it? Or could just do a fresh install, would it work that way? If yes, then can you tell in specific procedure on how to do it. Thank you

Normally, it shouldn't work, but I've found out that you can indeed install an upgrade(using the upgrade key) on a clean HDD. It's a bug on MS' part though as the "custom" option should not appear when when using an upgrade media.

Do you have a Windows 2000, XP or Vista laying around your place and not being used? If so then yes you can use your Upgrade Win7.
If not, then it goes against the EULA and forum rules.
