So, have this fancy new shiny acer aspire 9520 something.
And the thing is, it has vista. And it sucks. Access denied to my documents, screen saver or logout -> changes main and secondary display each time, all kinds of crap like that. File copy slow, files in use when trying to move it says "permission required".
Anyway, I have amazingly enough a legal copy of winxp pro sp2, and even after trying to get the intel 945gt chipset drivers successfully on the cd, regardless of if I use the chipset support stuff from acer or the intel storagematrix drivers, I get "install cannot continue, no hard drives found".
Same thing goes for installing with a usb floppy drive and intel storage support floppy for the storagematrix thingy.
Any advice on how to get xp on the darn thing would be greatly appreciated.
I do have some experience with editing install files on all versions of windows since 3.1, up to and including xp, with autoanswer files, oem suppport et cetera, and I am just darned that it doesn't work. Really surprising.

Hey
Unless its a recovery cd it wont work nowadays because it cant detect the sata hard drive drivers...check out the sticky in the fujitsu forum here....you need to create an xp cd slipstreamed with your hard drive drivers
you'll need to look at the second method on this sticky
...if you can use vista first to find out the drivers of the hard drive...i wrote this method...basically it slipstreams a large database of hard drive drivers (so if you can check your hard drive drivers are in this db) onto ur own xp cd you create...
let us know if that helps
