I know I shouldn't be posting a desktop problem in a notebook forum... but since it's not hardware related so it's not that irrelevant.
Here are my specifications according to EFD Inspector:
Operating system

Windows XP Home Edition (5.01.2600 Service Pack 2)

Dell Computer Corp. 0F8403

Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio Device
Also, I'm using ZoneAlarm Free Edition, and AVG Free Edition.
Now I'll talk about the problem. The problem actually began a few days ago when I tried to run update on my Sonic RecordNow! software, but it said "You do not have permission to run update, please contact your system administrator". Clearly, that didn't make sense since there's only one user on this PC and obviously I'm the administrator. I even checked User Accounts and it confirmed that I'm the admin. But, I wasn't too worried since I could care less about Sonic RecordNow!
Today, due to an immeasurable need to procrastinate on my English project (due tomorrow at 3)...I download the trial version of Rome Total War. I ran the installer and "Error -1607: Unable to Install InstallShield Scripting Runtime" pops up. ( http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108340)
Well, I went to the support site and basically there were two main causes.
1. Insufficient authority
2. ISS script 9 not installed
I tried following the solutions for the first reason but I couldn't find some of the options and settings, and it appears that my computer doesn't have them installed.
Then I tried installing ISS 9. Well, that's when error 1406 popped up...
( http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108504) So basically it's telling me I need to acquire administrator rights...
So can somone please help me? I guess the last resort would be to reinstall windows...![]()
This is sad... I'm using XP but I'm still getting UAC problems...![]()
Installshield does not work, error 1406 and error 1407 (long post)
