I have an alienware m3200 that has an intel 915 chipset.

The manual for the laptop says it has usb 2.0.

All the USB ports work, but only at a 1.1 speeds.

I know the 915 chipset isn't supported in windows 7, but does anyone have any ideas?

Speedstep isn't working ether. The CPU is locked at 1.8ghz....

I'm not all that familiar with AW that you're referring to, but:

    a) I'm using a couple of laptops with the same chipset and they have no issues getting USB 2.0 to work in W7

    b) You can boot a "live" Linux CD/DVD and check what your transfer speeds are there.

The Speedstep not working might be related to a missing chipset driver.

    Good luck.

I would try installing the chipset driver for Vista and see what happens if there's no driver for Windows 7.
