Hello people,
I was just updating the Intel Wireless Driver (downloaded from the Intel Driver Download webpages).. But after downloading and installing according to the instructions, I don't see the change in the driver version!!!
The old driver I had was 13.4.0.139 and the latest driver is supposed to be 13.5.0
But even after installing fine, the driver version and the date, remain as before - they didn't change.
There was no error' seen during installation of the drivers... Can someone please explain / clarify if something is wrong?
Also, I have tried running the Intel Driver Update Utility but it doesn't work anymore (it used to before!). I have tried both in Firefox and IE..
Thanks a lot in advance. Cheers.
PS., Sorry if this is in the wrong forum..

The latest driver version is 13.4.0.139. The previous version was 13.4.0.0.
Intel's driver version posted in their download center usually doesn't match with the actual installed driver version. They had a newer 14.0.0.0. version last week, which installed the same 13.4.0.139 driver. -
Thanks but strange.. I asked a friend of mine to check in this laptop and for him it shows up as 13.5.0 with a newer (and much more recent) date than the 07-Oct-10 that I see...
Of course, I asked him if it was the official driver and he said yes. So it' not something that he just picked off some website, I guess.
Anyway, thanks again. -
You made me find the new hidden Intel Wifi driver 13.5. The IT administrator zip file in the download center has a newer driver dated 19th Jan 2011 (for Win 7). The exe installs the older driver (meant for Vista).

Edit: Damn, the newer driver doesn't support 4965 AGN or older cards. -
Intel is quietly obsoleting older hardware with some of their newer driver package releases. It's been noticed that the newest GMA driver packages do NOT support anything older than a GMA HD class gpu running on a 5x or 6x chipset (iCore CPUs).
Same thing with wired and wireless network drivers. -
In any case, make sure that your system bios and that the intel chipset drivers are also up to date. This is best done before installing any other device drivers.
When updating the chipset drivers, always expand the install package to an empty folder and run the setup installer with the -overall flag to make sure that everything gets updated. -

I wouldn't bother with this driver set anyway. Throughput with my 6200 adapter absolutely tanked, and I was getting random disconnects. Went back to the 13.4 drivers, and all is well.

But when you install them, it doesn't show the 'apparently latest' version - either the version number or the date.
Anyway, thanks for the info.
PS., by the way, has anyone tried running the Intel Driver Update Utility these days? Is it working fine?
Intel Driver update does not change driver version - Why?
