    Intel Matrix Install: Device Not Found

    right i have just reinstalled vista (gone from 32bit o 64bit) and im trying to install a new graphics driver, i was told to install the Intel Matrix driver first - however after booting up driver CD and clicking on the Intel Matrix i get the message "Device Not Found" i tried a couple of other such as the bluetooth but that got the same result, but the wifi installed fine (as you can tell) any idea what im doing wrong?

    im using a Sager NP9262 if that helps

    What mode are the HDD/s in, in the BIOS ? - RAID/AHCI/IDE ?

    Go in Device Manager > IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers > Which drivers installed ?

    looking online it says the drivers are for both 32bit and 64bit, im downloading it anyway in the hope that it will work

    okay i tried one from there website and it says

    "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing this software."

    what the hell? so i cant have bluetooth or anything working?
    how do i fix this - i knew i should have stayed with 32bit :(

    You checked what Andy said? About the AHCI/IDE/RAID mode?

    You have the chipset installed? Get the driver from here.

    what so i have to install chipset first, didnt have to when i went from XP to vista - but ill give it a shot - how do i find out what chipset i have?

    You are using ATA and not AHCI( AHCI controller is not listed under ATA device list posted by you ). You need to enable AHCI first before installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager.

    Your HDD is in IDE mode, and AHCI is disabled.

    Do you really want to enable AHCI ?

    AHCI/RAID/IDE option might be in the BIOS advanced options - HDD mode.

    right as i dint know what i was looking for i just got as much info as i could

    right in the BIOS on the main screen i have:

    sata port 1 (320GB sata 1)
    sata port 2 (320GB Sata 2)
    Sata port 3 (120GB sata 3)

    in advanced options sata mode is set to normal

    in boot screen the drives show as IDE

    @andy

    would enabling ACHI allow me to install the Intel Driver Matrix or any other drivers that just wont install like bluetooth?

    is the Intel Matrix driver required or is it only if you are going to use RAID?

    What are the options shown in "SATA mode". (Is it described in the D901C datasheet ?)

    Yes, enabling AHCI will allow you to install the Intel Matrix Storage Manager (only), which enables NCQ (If the HDD supports it) and LPM.

    Its not a necessity. It'll improve performance when running multiple HDD-intensive tasks (due to NCQ), and slightly improve power efficiency (LPM).

    What drivers ? Try installing using the "Have Disk" method in device manager.

    im trying to install the bluetooth drivers, im trying to get windows media to notice that i have TV tuner but nothings working.

    whats the "have disk" method - ive just tried using loading from the driver disk i have

    Thats not related to MSM/AHCI.
    Check for unknown devices in device manager....and checkout this guide.
    (You sure you have the correct 64-bit drivers ?)

    You checked if ALL your drivers on the CD are 64bit compatible? Or you check IMSM only?

    right i have managed to get the new graphics driver to install
    but still cant get bluetooth or webcam to install or can i get the windows media centre to notice i have a TV tuner

    on the disc it just says for windows vista and xp, the only driver i tried online was the intel matrix one - i will try other drivers to see if i get the same result

    an update i just downloaded and instal lthe videocam thing and it works so looks like i have to download all the drivers from there which annoying as im getting like 22kbps :( still havent foun out how to get windows media player to notice i have a TV tuner installed though

    dont you guys hate when yo uthink you have everything then right at the bottom of the draw you find the driver disc :D

    i found the driver disc for the tv tuner, trying to install that now

    EDIT: it installed fine and media cente seems to be doing it right now, downloading soime update so fingers crossed

    EDIT2: it works! even the guide that didnt work before works :D
    so im nearly done wit hthe drievrs, its taken me over 6 hours but im nearly done :D
