    Hi guys,
I have an Asus G53JW notebook having a mechanical Seagate 500GB harddrive, i have no SSD, no RAID configuration, using it as single drive. Despite this, thanks to Asus, the system is pre-configured as running on AHCI mode and it seem Intel RST driver is installed as can be seen from device manager. My OS is Windows 7 SP1 x64.

What i'm noticing is that either the main GUI utility or any control panel applet of Intel RST both are missing on my computer and i cannot see any installation entry in "Programs And Features (aka Add/Remove Programs)" menu. Why i doesn't have this utility on my machine?

It seems Asus have installed "only" Intel RST drivers using " have-disk" method which located here, not with the actual software as a bundled package of how Intel actually provides.

The GUI looks like that on other computers, sample image below:

    .... which i don't have this software installed on Asus's Windows 7 x64 factory-default image.

Also i wonder how Intel RST differs from Intel SRT (Smart Response Technology), and as long as i do not own a SSD currently, i just want to know whether and how i can obtain this utility in future, when i purchase an SSD theoretically, as official Intel download page doesn't offer a seperate GUI-based utility download other than whole installation package bundled.

Have you tried installing the whole bundle to get the GUI?

Nope, i just wanted to know the truth and the reason. It's weird that Asus have only installed the driver instead of whole bundle package. However i can't see any chance to omit the GUI software installation. Is there any seperate download for it?

Did you look at Intel support site as they are the one that makes that and would have a more up to date version.

@Tinderbox (UK) yes, actually. To disable LPM which hampers some drives' performance, for example.
