Right below the download link there is the answer to your question:

Intel stopped supporting ICH8M SATA AHCI controllers. So this driver won't install in a notebook with Mobile Intel PM965/ GM965 chipsets.

Is it that hard to install the driver and see if it works. If your chipset is not supported, the driver won't even install.

Just try to install it, if it's not for you, it will not install, real simple. It installed on my P-7805U FX with no issues.

Any gains for non-SSD users ??? the last couple of drivers gave me reduced read/write values and i kept rolling back to OEM old like hell driver

How did you come to this conclusion!? I always update with the newest RST drivers and did never realize anything getting worse.

dunno the past 3 or maybe 4 drivers lower my read/write rating "significantly" Vs the original driver that came with the laptop that really got me too lazy to update RST anymore ... but maybe its just me

EDIT: btw ... by realize do u mean "feel" or u actually benchmark ??? because I dont "feel" much different but the benchmarks dont lie :D

Both :) benchmarking doesn't show much difference - neither positive, nor negative.

Subjectively, my ProBook 4430s felt slower after the update, so I went back to the OEM driver.

It may also be placebo effect, but I also feel like my computer is running slower after the update.... but could be related to other things :) Does the IRST actually give any benefits for users with single HDD (no RAID or SSD)?

Then maybe its just my machine ... not that there is something wrong with my HDD speed anyway that im forced to update
