So the other day I am just doing stuff on my Sager NP8660 when I glance over to my RAM/Processor meter on my sidebar. I have had my comp on for about 20 minutes and already my ram usage was hitting around 70%. This was very unusual. So I opened up Task Manager to find out what was eating up all my ram. Turns out something called SmartPinSysTray was using about 400,000K of memory along with SmartPinService. So I quickly end both processes and everything is back to normal. I then glace at the taskbar and my Intel Turbo Memory icon is gone...so I am assuming they are related. Unfortunately the problem continued every time I have restarted the notebook so I just open up Task Manager once I boot up and close the process and everything works fine.

Has anyone else experienced this? And is there a fix?

    Thanks!

As I understand it, Intel Turbo Memory just activates the Vista features to cache frequent data. So it is probably working exactly as expected.

Are you finding programs running out of memory? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.

Maybe post this in the Sager forums where more ppl with experience with the NP8660 will see it?

I just ordered this laptop and got the turbo memory so I'm quite curious.

    Unused RAM is dead Ram!

Saying that, if your comp does not experience performance drops or drags, just leave it. Especially for a gaming machine where the management of disk and ram and cpu relies on all these 3 portions to work together.

    cheers ...
