Hi guys,
I have an Asus noteook with W7 SP1 x64. In my power settings, closing the lid was to set to "shutdown" the PC, as i set, it does, it shuts down PC (no hibernate or sleep) with no problem. However, the interesting behavior that i noticed today, if you close the lid, the shutdown sequence begins as normal. But if you reopen the lid just before shutdown is completed, the screen is totally black and the HDD light is steady, as if the PC would hang. If you re-close the lid, the sequence resumes and the shutdown gets done.
I found that thread on another site which is similar to my issue, but my "close the lid" action is set to "shutdown" the PC, no hibernation or no sleep.

Is there any comment about it, why does laptops screen go black and hangs if i reopen lid before shudown process is completed?
I bet it's something to do with Windows 7.
Thanks in advance.

Interrupting a shutdown, like you did, could cause problems. I wouldn't do it.
Interesting behaviour - Closing lid and reopening hangs laptop
