IE7 is not the fastest browser out there, but it is not extremely slow either. Therefore, NO it is not a common problem.

If you just installed XP, then most probably updates are still being downloaded. i have noticed that even after installing SP3, you have to go though several reboots to get everything up to date.

If you are sure it is not due to updates, then try a different browser like Google Chrome or Firefox. BTW do you have a 3rd party firewall ?

Try disabling the Phishing Filter feature in IE7.

Make sure you have the latest driver for your network adapter too.

That's pretty random. You're not surprised though, are you?

As someone mentioned, you should turn off the phishing filter. The filter in IE7 can really slow things down.

I heartily second that; with that filter on, loading a webpage can take ages.

Especially if the webpage is heavy in content.

Using IE7 is your first problem.

    Here is your solution.

    Completely agree. :p

Sacrificing security for speed is ridiculous and should not be considered a solution. It is a compromise, not a solution.
