I just recently purchased my laptop not even a week ago and I have noticed that my internet explorer keeps going to "not responding" and then I control, alt, delete and close it.

I have also noticed that it freezes with msn. Is there anything I can do? I called dell since i bought the e-1505 from them and found out I wasn't covered under "software warrenty" apparantly. I know I can purchase it, but I am wondering if there is something I can do myself to fix the problem.

    Thanks.

You might consider installing the Beta of IE 7. You can go to microsoft.com and search for internet explorer to find it.

Okay. I tried that. And I also tried reinstalling things, but it didn't help. On top of which, my images are not sharp. They're distorted, words on some pages are almost like they are on top of each other according to my screen.

I went to the dell kiosk in raleigh, but they suggested having someone come out and fix it. I called and tried that approach. They want to 'troubleshoot' it for the zillionth time since I got this thing 3 days ago.

I talked to the return department and it will take at least 3 weeks if not longer to refund me the money.

Is there any suggestions?? I need the laptop to go between nc and ky for personal and work reasons.

Hmm. *Thinks* I can try that. The dell kiosk told me if I want to order a 'exchange/new one' through them after i get the money back on my card then they will give me an extra 10% off plus any e-code coupons I can find.

Is there any recommendations? Since I have this one. Is there anything I can get that's better that won't do the stuff or is this just a one time thing?

I think you should just try firefox to see if you like it. I only use IE when I have to and it always seems to freeze. Firefox never really has had any problems for me. So try a different browser before doing the more drastic thing of returning your laptop b/c of IE, which most likely won't fix a thing by getting a different laptop. Disclaimer: I'm not trying to turn this thread into an IE vs. FF thread just so you know.

I can try that. I don't know if it will fix all the issues but it's worth a shot. I've used firefox before. But that was on my really old desktop.

It's not just ie though I have to wonder. Images are blurred and when I tried changing the resolution for the screen it looked 'stretched' and odd. Then I noticed that on some browsers the little advertisements like on yahoo.com that font is blurred, it looks almost 3-d where it's on top of other words making it impossible to read.

So I don't know what is going on. I'm just trying to do something to fix it. But at this point am really just considering an exchange and getting a different one. Mainly because if I am having this many problems with it and I haven't even had it a week- what else is going to be wrong with it down the road.

And... the diagnosis....... I have been on the phone since I got home from the mall where I went to take it. It's a hardware issue. Aparantly my ATI card is corrupt/bad. After being on the phone, hung up on, put on hold, told there was nothing wrong, told it was a softwear issue by dell, told I was going to have to pay to get help to fix my brand new laptop........ *grrss*

It came down to the dell software support taking control of my computer and seeing what I saw. He confirmed after redownloading drivers that it's a hardware issue.

Now question becomes- after all of this trouble should I let them replace it, should I ask for just a reinbursement, should I just get a different model?

Im sorry to hear you picked the short straw but it happens to all of us sometime or another.

I would recommend if you can afford it, go for a make of laptop that has good build quality and reliability. I would recommend IBM or Asus if you can afford it. If not give Dell another go, there are lots of satisfied Dell users in this forum and who knows mabye after the replacement, you might be aswell?

    But look into Asus.

    Hope that helps.
