I have been using Firefox on my desktop the past 2 days. Has anyone else tried this program or replaced Internet Explorer on their notebook? I am seriously considering this....

It seems to me to run a lot faster....

I have been using Firefox since their later beta. It was great then and 1.0 is even better! IE is just for updates now, that's it. Test out some of Firefox's extentions. I have FF installed on 2 PC desktops, 2 PC notebooks and 2 Macs. Bye, bye IE!!!!!!!!!!

I've replaced IE almost completely with Firefox (complemented by Thunderbird to replace Outlook). Been using it on both Windows and Linux distributions since the early releases, but never on a notebook though.

I'm only using IE for developing (testing) web applications.
(for me) It's not a matter of religion. Firefox is fast, customizable and free (as in freedom).

I am testing it out so far and no problems as of yet. Have you noticed problems with particular sites?

Try the Advant browser, its tools feature has ad-blocker and activeX disable. I like it better than Firefox![ :)]

I was using Firefox very happily until recently, when it started giving 'document contains no data' errors for almost every website. It was even starting to affect IE when we used it for emailing. So I deleted Firefox and am (not happily) using IE again. I tried every possible thing I could think of or read about, but nothing worked to fix FF.

Sorry to hear that, sunspark. I have not had an issues with FF on my Macs nor have my kids. I am assuming you are using a G4. Safari isn't bad.

I use a little of both, I have used IE since about 98, starting with Netscape... but I do alot of website developent, and 90% of the world uses IE, and I wanted to view the pages that I was developing the same way most other people would.

Recntly I started using Firefox and I really do like it. IE is definatly way behind the curve when it comes to standard features, and with all of the well organized and easy to install extensions avaliable for Firefox it's hard not to use it. It does not have the problems rendering that some of the other browsers do such as Netscape and Opera... If you are looking for a good browser review go to:

    http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,1754509,00.asp

I actually used Maxthon for a little while and was satisfied with it, it is based on IE so it displays web pages the exact same as IE does, it just has alot of features that IE lacks such as tabbed browsing and skin support.

Ive been using Firefox for at least 6 months and very happy with it. Faster, better features, and easier to use.
The only con with ff is that many microsoft supported websites need to use ie.

Firefox is great. I just noticed a problem. I cannot go to a linked deal from www.techbargains.com . I have to go through IE to enter the links for deals. Any reason why?

If I can buy it in titanium, I will (my bike, my watch, etc. etc.) Why? I hate corrosion....

It works! I was having a hard time going from www.techbargains.com to the Dell web site. Now it is working. A touch of the full moon and the wind speed, I surmise....

Here is a SWEET TIP from another board that makes FIREFOX, THE BEST BROWSER in my opinion. It loads A LOT FASTER and starts up faster. I like fast.[ :D]

Well right now I'm in a web design class, and they recommended we download just the regular mozilla browser since it has composer. So far I like it, but I never here much said on it. I always here about mozilla firefox. Any reason why firefox would be better? Does anyone think I should switch when I'm out of this class? Just curious.

There is a certain Russian site that I visit occasionally which has a webjacking virus when you enter it.

Any decent AV program detects it immediately.

One good thing about Firefox is that the webjacking virus does not work and my AV program stays very quiet ;)

I've just started using Firefox and so far ot seems ok to me.

I used to prefer Netscape back in the 90's but after moving over to IE4 (or something like that?) I never looked back.

This is the first attempt at a serious conversion for perhaps 6 or 7 years!

Tell it like it is...NOT how it should be :)
