I can't use internet connection sharing because it wants the host computer to use the IP 192.168.0.1 which (thanks to netgear, very intelligent guys) is the IP of the router. Is there any way to configure internet connection sharing so it doesn't have to use 192.168.0.1?

    Cheers

Make sure DHCP is enabled on the router it is supposed to hand out IP's to the different devices on the network.

Er... yeah that's pretty irrelevant really. The problem is a conflict of IP as to share an internet connection from one computer to the next, the computer sharing needs to have the IP 192.168.0.1 which in this case it can't have because that's the IP of the router.

turn off dhcp on the router....your computer with ICP will be dishing out the ips, and change the ip address of the router. I set my brother in law's network this way. they only have dialup, the desktop is dialing out, and sharing connection for the router and he has a wireless laptop....I assume you are doing dialup or there wouldnt be any reason for ICP

Problem solved, I just changed the internal IP address of the router.
