    Hey

I was just reading a thread about the iTouch not working with vista 64 bit. I am about to upgrade my pc tonight and was planning on throwing vista 64 on it. I'm using 64 on my laptop and I love it. But my question is will my iPod Video work with windows vista 64 bit. Is that problem only for the iTouch? Does anybody have the iPod Video Working on Windows Vista 64? i already have iTunes installed on my laptop with 64 bit, i guess i could plug the iPod into that but i was wondering if anybody here already had it working.

    Thanks

I'm using the iPod Video (generation 5.5) with Vista 64. I have never had any problems.

thanks alot for the reply. do you have an error when you start itunes that says it wasnt installed correctly? i have one now on my laptop running 64 bit, but i found a work around. apparently itunes has a permant install zone to program files, but since 64 has a program files and an (x86)program files it gets messed up. my itunes still runs i just get that error when i start itunes. i was just wondering if you have that error because i think it might effects if the ipod works correctly.

    thanks for the reply

I don't use Vista 64-bit but one thing I've noticed with my iPod Touch is that when you just plug it in, it does not appear in the Computer (Explorer).

Everything works fine,...it is recognized by iTunes, synchronizes correctly, but it does not show up in Computer...its like they designed it that way so one cannot just transfer data between the local computer and iPod Touch.

I have seen this with Vista and XP, but this is with the iPod Touch, not the iPod classic/Nano/other video iPods.

You need to enable "Disk mode" in itunes on the options panel for the ipod. Then it will show up as a disk.

Thats great advice, but I cannot seem to find that option in iTunes. I tried searching the internet a little bit just now and got to this site where Apple shows an image of iTunes and the option to enable Disk Mode. I do not have that option....

Here is a cropped screenshot of what I see in iTunes...this is with my iPod Touch.

I know how to put simple files on my iPod Touch by using SFTP but I thought it could be easier to just transfer them with some sort of disk mode.

Yes, its on the newest release of iTunes, 7.5.0.20 or whatever...but its been the case ever since I got my iPod Touch, and at that time iTunes was at 7.2 or 7.3...

Thanks for the information...I thought Apple might lock up the Touch from disk mode because of its wireless capabilities. All right for now, I suppose.
