If you have Windows XP does that mean you can't play Games in DirectX 10 mode and your missing out on DirectX 10 effects?

Yes, only DirectX 9 is available on XP, while DirectX 10 is available on Vista.

yes, but don't worry about it unless you have an 8800 or higher gpu.

It's still going to be a long while before dx10 only games become mainstream. -
Technically, it is only for Vista BUT you CAN install DX10 on XP (if you're up for the challenge) and then you can enjoy the (lacking) DX10 "features" and "effects".
-
by the time DX10 games come out, your computer won't be able to play them (too slow regardless of DX10 support).
Is DirectX 10 only availiable for Vista?
