I was worried maybe it might have virus?
Are there any reputable freeware that can open Word and PPT?

If you want a free alternative to MS Office, I would go with Libre Office.

Yeah, Kingsoft Office is pretty good. I use it on my Android. It functions very well as a Microsoft Office alternative.

How does LibreOffice differ from Kingston Office?

I haven't used Kingston Office. Libre Office is a branching off of Open Office (some of the developers left the OO project and designed Libre Office). If you're familiar with Open Office, then I think you may appreciate Libre Office just as much (or more so).
I've noticed that the formatting in Libre and OO never really seems to carry over into MS Word though. I have yet to use Kingston. -

I will put my .02. Since my institution get M$ products I was able to buy 2010 and 2013 for 30 each and have full enterprise license which is very good but only for those institution that has that option only. In this instance I am glad to be able to spend only 30US each time to get the software. JW is Libre Office same as Open Office or is that two different packages?? What happened to OpenOffice???

Oracle gave (or sold) Open Office to Apache. Now the whole getup has changed.

isn't Kingston a ram/hardware manufacturer
? in any case I've used Kingsoft office on android and it does a fine job opening office files and basic usage.
I tried libre office but I guess I really got used to Microsoft's office that I still ended up buying the 2013 version. -

Well that is one way to kill a good program that had some future in it. By making too many changes before users learn it - never helps a open source program grow or expand to compete against Office.... -

What happened was Sun Microsystems acquired StarOffice. Sun then announced that an open source project would be made available based on StarOffice, which became known as OpenOffice. Years later, Oracle acquired Sun Microsystems, and continued contributing to OpenOffice and StarOffice. Developers of OpenOffice became concerned over management of the project, so they high tailed it to form The Document Foundation, which released LibreOffice. Oracle then ceased development of OpenOffice due to loss of mindshare to LibreOffice, but relicensed all contributions under Apache.
Most development is now done by IBM.
Is Kingsoft Office 2012 a good alternative to MS?
