I purchased MS Office Home and Student 2007 (3-user version). Is this the full version or the upgrade version (Do I need to have a previous version of Office installed first?)
Also, I've been using Outlook 2003. Is there any way I can get Outlook 2007 without shelling out another hundred bucks? Or should I switch email clients? If so, which one should I switch to?

if i remember correctly this is not the full version. MS office home and student 07 comes with the programs that most students will need: office, excel, powerpoint. i don't think most of the other programs that are part of the office 2007 suite (stuff like onenote, money, publisher, etc. etc.) are included, though i could be wrong. If all ur going to be doing is writing essays/making charts/view powerpoints for class, then this is all you need.
i believe outlook 2007 is a part of the office 2007 suite, though you may be able to find it online. as for outlook itself, I prefer (and recommend) mozilla thunderbird over it. It looks cleaner, works just as well (will port all contacts/address book over), can be equipped with extensions/skins, and is free.
likewise, i recommend firefox over IE, but thats different. -
No it's not the upgrade version, it's 'full'. Word/Excel/Powerpoint. Student/Home gets Onenote on top, Standard gets Outlook, with a ten dollar difference. But it's too late isn't it... don't think the Standard was 3-user anyways.
Thunderbird perhaps? -
It is a full version. Microsoft does not release an upgrade version of Office 2007 Student/Teacher Edition, I think because they feel they charge too little on the full version anyways

I also bought Office Student and I'm pretty proud of myself for actually paying for Word this time around.
Is MS Office Home and Student 2007 the full version?
