7 is a slight improvement over Vista. But is it still overpriced. $100 for Home Premium upgrade, $200 for Professional, and $300 for Ultimate is still too much money for a minor upgrade over Vista.

7 is better than Vista, but is upgrading Vista Business or Ultimate to Windows 7 even worth it? I can purchase a lot of memory and a very large hard drive for that kind of money.

I do think it's overpriced, but so has been every version of MS Windows since XP (IDK, about further back), lucky I got the $50 upgrade deal though.

Yes Windows 7 upgrade is overpriced if you miss the promotional sale and then buy it for the original retail price.

try living in just about any country outside the US then you will know what overpriced is all about...

7 Home Premium (upgrade) is AU$200 which equates to US$167... now how do you feel?

im lucky i preordered from the US it cost me approx AU$130 instead of AU$400 and at that price i would have been better of getting a technet subscription...

Microsoft is just trying to stimulate the economy. :D :p

Joking aside, yes, mostly every version of Windows has been overpriced, because the operating system itself controls the market. When you pay for the OS, you're not really paying for the disc to install as much as you're paying for the product key. You certainly could use a leaked final build and purchase a family pack for 3 installs.

I think M$ does a special price till the end of this year though, which should be enough for people that want it to get it. After that, tough luck :p

    For EU for eg,

    instead of £149.99 :p

Seriously guys..how can you say paying $100-200 is overpriced for an Operating system you're going to be using nearly every day for the next 4-5 years.
There aren't many things that I buy for that price ,use every day and expect that much time out of it.

Um.., we're not exactly talking about the operating system, but upgrading to it. The upgrade disc prices are a bit much compared to Apple, which is sad, since Macs are supposedly "luxury" computers.

I felt for you guys when I saw the Xbox Live game purchase prices for Australia that were announced recently.

$100 for a copy of Mass Effect is just ridiculous.
