According to this article on Tom's Hardware it is. To me it looks like it as well. Too many people I know, including myself are skipping Windows Vista.

Maybe Microsoft should stick with XP and start charging for service packs, ala Apple. Change whatever they want, just stick with the XP name.
-
Then too many people are misinformed. People with no idea are making assumptions on Vista on hearsay and rumour alone. Just the other day I spoke to someone who was vehemently anti-vista, and he had to go online to find a reason as he had none himself. Add to that that people seem to have selective memories - yes ME was a big pile of cr*p, but as I've said before XP was just as big a pile of cr*p until SP2. Pity really because a lot of people like Vista, it's a lot better than XP was after 18 months, and it still has potential. Personally, I doubt I'll get Windows 7 as that seem more of a 98/ME OS than Vista.
It's that old adage in action: If one person likes something, they might tell a few others but probably only when questioned. If one person hates something, they'll tell as many people as they can find. -
There is nothing wrong with Vista--but there is also very little in compelling reasons to upgrade.
-
heh, this again? What the hell people? Can we not be content with one huge argumentative thread about this?
Smells like flamebait just like the PC World article on how the MBP ran Vista the fastest...Give me a break. -
Yeah really. Enough Vista-bashing threads already. Don't like it, don't use it. Enjoy your XP/Linux/Mac/BSD/Amiga/Nintendo/whatever, ok, bye.

Wow, that article was terrible! It doesn't leave a single reason, at all, of why Vista is bad. What it really says is that there are a lot of people that don't want Vista, and even more people that don't know how to use it. Because of those two facts, and the fact that Microsoft is releasing a new operating system about 3 years later, it is the worst thing ever.
Seriously Tom's Hardware? That article isn't even worth use as toilet paper. -

Vista is awesome. Screw the haters, seriously. They usually have no legit arguments against anything. While Vista really wasn't supposed to come out, I'm so glad it did.

95% of the people you ask "why is Vista so bad?" will answer with something along the lines of, " it just is". -
For myself+family, Vista has been more stable than XP was. When I first tried it, I was a little hesitant because it was something new, but I said to myself, of course it's going to be different (duh, it's a new OS dumb***) so I have to give it a fair chance (to which it seems the majority of people who bash vista haven't done) and now there'd be now way that I could be moved back to XP. -

We joke with this, but its scary that its true. Watch the reaction from people. Soon someone will be genuinely mad with a few of us here. There reason? They don't know either.

I did a Google search on Aaron Heibert - the first result was from ufoinfo.com, where he recalled his experience in 2003 of seeing a UFO flotilla ( http://www.ufoinfo.com/roundup/v08/rnd0832.shtml). Maybe the aliens gave him his fantastic research and writing skills! I hope that's the answer, as it would explain his editorial on IBM, also posted at Tom's Hardware:

I was about to jump in here and blast the OP for recycling old articles. The fact that Tom's Hardware is still on the "lol Vista is ME" bandwagon from a year ago is pretty depressing. -
The version of vista that people need to use is the 64bit version. Vista x64 is the most stable version of windows that I have ever used; and that is even including the mighty windows 2000, which had legendary stability. -
I use vista home basic now...just reverted back to Vista as it came with my laptop. After using XP Pro for some time I wanted to give Vista another shot. After a clean install, Vista runs faster and smoother. Sure, it does suffer from some gaming performance but that seems to be the fault of my Intel X3100, not Vista. XP was/is now a mature OS and Vista does need some improvements, but overall I am happy with Vista, even if it is the Home Basic version with SP1. I think a lot of the Vista bashing comes from people who just dont have the hardware to run it correctly. I have 2gb Ram with a T5450 C2D proccessor and it runs well for me.

You know what the sad thing is? Even big sites like Tom's Hardware, need the flamebait articles ever so often to keep recent, and to keep new users (and old ones) coming to the site. Articles like that 1) appeal to the whole internet phenomena of hating Microsoft is cool, and 2) it appeals to "everyone" on the internet, and finally 3) gets people like us all riled up about it creating more interest.
Ah, the world works in mysterious ways.
I mean, I don't think its any coincidence that bit tech "blogs" generally love Apple and hate Microsoft either. They always recycle the same reasons as to why they love/hate both, but each and every article is tailored to that specification for the exact same reason as stated above. It's all marketing hype...*cough*Engadget and Gizmodo*cough*. -
