Well, I think I need to reformat my drive and re-install Vista on my brand new Gateway notebook. I basically didn't let Windows Update finish installing by running CCleaner before it could finish. So now Windows Update keeps telling me to install new updates, no matter how many times I install them.
So anyway.
I've done Windows XP clean re-installs many times on my old desktop PC. Is there anything I should keep in mind when doing a clean re-install of Vista on my new laptop? Like, should I check for my Gateway driver disc?

drivers drivers drivers.
other then that, you should be happy with a clean install afterwards! -
They are the same process for desktop vs laptop. Don't forget drivers as junknstuff noted as well BEFORE you do the hdd wipe. At least have your NIC and/or wireless drivers available.

I THINK my Gateway NX570XL arrived with a drivers disc.
Is there a good walkthrough guide for this? -
To be honest, the Vista installation is simpler than XP's. You basically put the disk in, select your drive, and wait an hour before entering post-installation stuff.
Is installing Vista on a laptop harder? Need help!
